Brown sugar savers are made of terracotta fired clay, which is a porous clay material that absorbs water and maintains dampness. They can be used to keep brown sugar soft for up to 3 months. To use, soak the brown sugar saver in water for 15 minutes, pat it dry, and then tuck inside the brown sugar in a sealed contain. When the sugar begins to harden, re-soak the brown sugar saver for 15 minutes, pat it dry, and use it again. Just repeat the process as needed. INSTRUCTIONS
  • Soak the terracotta sugar saver in water for 15 minutes.
  • Pat it dry to prevent sugar sticking to its surface.
  • Place it on top of the brown sugar and store it in an airtight container.
  • When sugar begins to harden, repeat above the process.
  • Rinse the terracotta sugar saver with water only.
ALTERNATIVE USES You can also use a brown sugar saver to keep things dry! Dry terracotta is very absorbent, making it highly useful for absorbing excess or unwanted moisture and keeping things dry and even crispy. To use a brown sugar saver dry, just bake it in your oven at 200°F for 5-10 minutes to ensure it’s bone-dry. Allow it cool completely before using. Can be used multiple times in this format as well.
